PROP Petition Drive and Other Upcoming Events

PROP has many upcoming events in the next few weeks. See below for several opportunities to get involved with our work.

PROP will host a Petition Drive/Performance Art Day on Sunday, Nov.18th from 1 – 5PM in neighborhoods throughout our city. We’re adding a new element to this petition day — performance art theater and spoken word poetry, all outdoors at one or more of PROP’s petitioning sites. A number of poets and performers have already volunteered to do readings that day of poems and other written or spoken word pieces relevant to the issue of abusive police practices.

The next meeting of PROP’s city-wide coalition, New Yorkers For Police Reform, on Tuesday, November 27th from 6pm –  8pm where we will, via give and take discussion and decision making, put the flesh on the bone of our upcoming plans and activities.

PROP will host a public forum entitled From Behind The Blue Of Silence on Monday December 3rd from 7pm – 9pm at the Schomburg Center in Harlem. This event will feature retired and current police officers offering their first-hand critical assessment of objectionable NYPD practices like the quota system and stop and frisk.
We hope to see some new and familiar faces at these upcoming events. For more information or questions, please email prop@urbanjustice.org.
