Police Reform Organizing Project (PROP)
Spring 2013 Outreach Internship
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis
An initiative of the Urban Justice Center (UJC), The Police Reform Organizing Project (PROP), is organizing an advocacy campaign to promote and achieve changes in the wasteful, ineffective, unjust, illegal, bullying, homophobic, transphobic and racially biased practices of the New York City Police Department (NYPD). Through community outreach, coalition building and public education, PROP is mobilizing New Yorkers to pressure city and state lawmakers and political candidates to abolish abusive police tactics like stop and frisk and the quota system; create a strong, independent entity that monitors and assesses police priorities and policies and that effectively investigates and punishes abusive conduct; and to establish and implement local problem solving measures that strengthen communities while reducing crime.
PROP seeks an intern to assist in coordinating the outreach and communications activities of the campaign. The intern will be expected to work 10-30 hours per week. The position is unpaid.
