PROP’s First Annual Citizen of the City Awards Benefit last night was a great success! Congratulations once again to our honorees Baz Dreisinger, Ivie Koy Gordon, Khary Lazarre-White, and Robert Pinter, who were recognized for their dedication to creating a more safe, inclusive, and livable city for all New Yorkers. The honorees spoke pointedly and with great feeling about how meaningful the award itself was to them, being recognized as honored citizens of the city that they love so deeply. All the speakers talked about how NYPD practices are especially objectionable because they work to divide our people rather than support our city’s rich diversity. Many thanks to the more than 150 people who came to show their support for our cause, filling the room with good will, faith, and feeling. Last night was a major step forward in ensuring that PROP will continue its important work aimed at ending abusive police practices, and in renewing our collective determination to change NYPD practices, to create a more just society, to not just envision but to bring about a better city for all its people.
