AEU Honors PROP Founder

We are pleased and proud to inform you that the American Ethical Union has chosen PROP’s director Bob Gangi to receive the prestigious Elliott-Black Award.  Named after two long-term and esteemed leaders of the New York Society for Ethical Culture, John Lovejoy Elliott and Algernon D. Black, the award is given “as a recognition and tribute to an individual or organization in the larger community who has made a significant ethical contribution to society at personal risk and hardship.”  Bob was acknowledged especially for his enduring dedication to the rights of vulnerable people caught up in the criminal justice system and his life’s work fighting for sweeping prison and police reform.

We extend our heart-felt congratulations to Bob for this distinguished honor and a commendation to the AEU for highlighting the critical importance of Bob’s efforts and those of his allies and colleagues over the years to create a fair, humane, and bias-free criminal justice system that treats all people equally and that recognizes the inherent dignity of every human being.
