In Their Own Words Released

At last Thursday’s forum, From Behind the Blue Walls of Silence, PROP released “In Their Own Words”, a collection and analysis of seventy quotes by current and former NYPD officers that demonstrate, in their own words, the illegal tactics and racially biased attitudes that are endemic to the daily operations of the Department. Excerpts from “In Their Own Words” appear below – read the full report HERE.

“If they’re on a corner, make ‘em move. If they don’t want to move, lock ‘em up. Done deal. You can always articulate [a charge] later.” – NYPD Superior Officer

“They are f***ing animals. You make sure if you have to shoot, you shoot them in the head. That way there’s one story….” – NYPD Captain

“We are stopping kids walking upstairs to their house, stopping kids going to the store, young adults. In order to keep the quota….” – NYPD Officer
